What we do
In the aftermath of the horrendous fire at London’s Glenfell Tower, it became clear that the fire was probably instanced in a refrigerator. With the available knowledge of materials, B•I•G Coating embarked on the development of a non-combustible refrigerator back wall.
Our B•I•G Firewall Coating for refrigerators is now leading in the prevention of refrigerator fires and is the only one that completely complies with the latest European requirements (IEC 60335-2-24 ed.8)
Where we work
B•I•G Coating is based in Lorch, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
In addition to several locations in Germany, B•I•G Industries also has a production unit in Romania. In total, this family-run company employs more than 70 people.
The production capacity in Lorch will be completely renewed in 2023, along with an extension of the existing buildings.
Compliance
In January 2024, a mandatory safety standard will come into force in the EU.
Compliance with the latest safety regulations ensures the safety and well-being of consumers and may even save lives.
Safety
When exposed to fire, the B•I•G Firewall Coating Layer produces inert gases – and forms an insulating foam layer.
This foam layer protects the flammable refrigerator backing from fire, extinguishes a fire that has already started and is approved by VDE
